Design Institute

The client is one of the leading International Design Training Institute of West India. Their IT landscape had become extremely outdated, diverse and costly to maintain. The design institute was faced with the following challenges:

  • There were myriad redundant applications, with each department getting its own application developed. The landscape was not maintainable, as the various departments followed their individual choices in the technology stack. There was no uniform framework that was followed for development. This resulted in a nightmare for the small IT team to maintain the various applications.
  • The license cost for the IT infrastructure was extremely high.
  • Applications operated in individual silos, with no focus on having a single source of data. Thus it became almost impossible to optimize the cost of operations.

Bot Sapiens carried out a Portfolio Analysis of the IT Landscape for the Design Institute and recommended a future roadmap. We designed and developed a common framework based on PHP, JQuery and MySQL. The ASP based applications were migrated from legacy platforms to the new open source platform. The Excel based reports were converted to QlikView based BI intuituve dashboards for the CEO and other department heads. A single source of truth was established, and redundancies were resolved. The applications were integrated with other 3rd party software like Tally.

Benefits to the client:
  • Lowered software license cost over the year.
  • Faster feature deployments for the applications.
  • Single source of truth giving insights into the Institute's operations, thus lowering unnecessary expenses.
  • Help in increasing revenues by tracking usage of physical infrastructure by allied group companies.
